Good To Remember
Although we have already completed more than 100 projects, some of them leave a special mark. One of them is our very first project - where it all started.
In 2012, in Pagėgiai, we completed our first development project - a 30-turbine wind farm with a total capacity of 73.5 MW.
As Darius Grigaliūnas, Head of Project Development, recalls:
“It was one of the greatest challenges and, at the same time, one of the most interesting experiences of my career, as at that time only individual, often used wind turbines were being built, while larger wind farms were neither planned nor constructed. There were also major challenges related to territorial planning for wind farm development, legislation governing such activities, and public awareness, as this was a completely new and largely unheard-of technology that made it possible to ‘harness’ the wind. All processes were discussed intensively, debated, and even involved a kind of legislative development process, as it was unclear what documents were required, how to secure agreements from neighboring landowners, or arrangements for registering sanitary protection zones. The process was certainly very long, but also fascinating and full of challenges. After this process, I participated in the planning, development, and implementation of many larger and smaller wind farms, but this first park will always remain in my heart like a first love - not only evoking nostalgic memories, but also, to a large extent, shaping my further career path.”
Today, we have developed nearly one-third of all wind energy projects developed in Lithuania, but the first steps always hold special meaning.
