Bolt Tensioning in Wind O&M

A wind turbine is held together by thousands of connections - and they are what keep the structure stable under constant wind and loads.

In Norway, we are carrying out bolt tensioning works for 21 Vestas turbines. These are part of regular maintenance operations required to ensure safe and reliable performance.

Each turbine contains anywhere from several hundred to over a thousand bolts. The largest ones, located at the tower base, section connections, and blade attachment points, can weigh 5-10 kg and reach around half a meter in length.

Over time, due to constant vibrations, wind forces, and changing loads, even properly tightened bolts can slightly loosen - which is why regular inspection is essential.

If you’re looking for a reliable partner to ensure the smooth operation and safety of your wind turbines - wherever they are located - feel free to reach out, we’ll be happy to help.
