January in Lithuania
January in Lithuania marked a historic milestone – wind power plants generated 38.4% of the country’s total electricity consumption. This equals 0.54 TWh, the highest monthly wind output ever recorded.
To put this into perspective, 0.54 TWh is nearly equal to the amount of electricity consumed by Lithuania’s capital city, Vilnius, over almost an entire quarter. It represents a significant boost to local generation and reduced reliance on imports.
Meanwhile, solar accounted for around 1% of total electricity in January – 16.0 GWh. While winter seasonality limits output, renewable capacity in Lithuania continues to expand.
The trend is clear – renewables are strengthening their role in Lithuania’s electricity mix and shaping the country’s energy future.
