Vilnius Named European Green Capital 2025!

Every year, the European Commission awards two cities for their environmental achievements. The title of "European Green Capital" is given to a city with more than 100,000 inhabitants, while the "European Green Leaf" award is granted to cities with over 20,000 residents.
The "European Green Capital" award recognizes cities that serve as role models, actively pursue a more sustainable future, and create an environmentally friendly urban space for their residents.

We are proud that INIKTI’s hometown, Vilnius, has been recognized as the "European Green Capital 2025" and has joined the ranks of cities such as Stockholm, Hamburg, Nantes, Copenhagen, Oslo, Tallinn, Valencia, and others.
Vilnius has long been known for its green spaces – parks and forests cover more than 60% of the city’s territory. However, the "European Green Capital" title signifies more than just natural beauty; it represents a responsible approach to environmental sustainability. Various criteria are evaluated, including the city’s ecological vision, its implementation, future plans, citizen involvement, and sustainable urban development.
