Today is Lithuanian Energy Workers’ Day!
“We must honor the people who laid the foundations for Lithuania’s energy independence,” says Aivaras Stumbras.
On this special day, we want to introduce you to our CEO’s uncle, Algirdas Stumbras, who is hailed as the father of Lithuanian energy.

Born on September 24, 1927, in Kaunas into a family of artists – an opera director and a singer – Algirdas Stumbras became a true national energy legend. For many years, he worked on the country’s largest electrification projects, laid the groundwork for the Lithuanian Power Plant and the Ignalina Nuclear Power Plant construction, and played a key role in shaping Lithuania’s energy sector. Algirdas Stumbras was awarded the Order of Distinguished Engineer, became an honorary member of the World Energy Council in 1996, served as a state consultant on energy issues for several years, and later as an expert for the Confederation of Industrialists. This year, the national energy pioneer Algirdas Stumbras turns 97!
